System Overview
A typical spray polyurethane foam (SPF) system consists of a multi-ingredient chemical formulation shipped in 55-gallon drum sets. Part A is a dark colored viscous liquid called isocyanate. Part B is commonly called the polyol resin. These two chemical parts require the spray foam equipment to properly ratio, mix and apply the foam into the wall cavity, roof, or other area to be foamed.
Material Supply System
Typical spray equipment used to apply SPF has a material supply system to feed the chemical materials from the 55-gallon drums to the machine.
The polyol resin (B-side) and isocyanate material (A-side) components are typically supplied in 55-gallon drum sets. The materials must be shipped and stored according specific procedures. Once in use on the jobsite or in the mobile spray rig trailer, they are transferred from 55-gallon drums to the machine using special pumps called transfer pumps. The material supply sytem feeds the machine with the chemicals to begin the process of spraying polyurethane foam... More
Spray Foam Machine
The spray machine actually proportions the materials (usually 1:1 ratio by volume), heats the materials and delivers the material out to the spray gun. The foam machine has a variety of components such as electric motors, metering pumps, pre-heaters, electric console, presure switches and gages. We will cover all of these in more detail... More
Heated Hoses
The two materials (A & B) are delivered to the gun from the spray foam machine through heated hoses of various lengths and hose diameters.. They are kept separate through this entire system until they come together in the gun... More
Spray Foam Gun
Once the two separate materials (A & B) meet together in the spray gun. They are mixed together under high pressure to form polyurethane foam. Instantaneously as the polyurethane foam is created it continues moving under high pressure out the end of the spray gun nozzle where it is spray applied to the substrate...
